Internationalization projects

The AGAUR has been funded with two Marie S. Curie COFUND actions from the European Commission, with 9 milion euro to support reseachers' career development and mobility, within the Beatriu de Pinós (BP) from 2010 to 2015 AGAUR's calls. This programme is based on the co-financing of regional or national programmes for the recruitment of researcher personnel, either existing or newly created to promote transnational mobility.
 
The European grant has allowed the reinforcement of the BP postdoctoral grants, by introducing improvements to the existing programme, specially in working conditions and the mobility of researchers.
 
The selection of these projects by the EU also validates AGAUR's quality on the management and evaluation of grants.
 
This commitment to continuous improvement by AGAUR has been strengthened with the 'HR Excellence in Research' seal, awarded by the European Commission for the application of the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct recruitment of researchers (C&C).

The Euro-Mediterranen cooperation through Eranet Joint Activities and beyond (ERANETMED) is funded by the 7th Framework Programme of the European Union with the aim of coordinating the European research and the southern Mediterranean basin countries, reducing fragmentation and creating long-term synergies and cooperative relations in Research, Development and Innovation. It involves more than 20 partners from 15 countries. Catalonia is represented by the AGAURs' Internationalization Area, supporting the International Projection activities from the Secretary for Universities and Research of the Generalitat of Catalonia.

 
The ERA NET joint research programme, as s result of the project activities, are focused on energy, environment, food and water.
 
This project supports the initiative Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area (PRIMA), promoted by Italy, Cyprus, France, Greece, Luxembourg, Malta, Portugal, Czech Republic and Spain as Member States, and the Mediterranean partner countries of Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia and Turkey with the aim of establishing a long-term partnership structured on research and innovation in the Mediterranean area. In accordance with the principles of joint ownership, mutual interest and shared benefits and take advantage of multiple bilateral and multilateral research and innovation activities within the Mediterranean region, by developing and implementing innovative, efficient and sustainable solutions on food production and water supply for the welfare and socio-economic development.

The Japan-EU Partnership in Innovation, Science and Technology (Jeupiste) is an international cooperation project, funded by the 7th Framework Programme of the European Union to promote cooperation in science and technology between the EU and Japan. It involves 10 organizations from 8 countries, where Catalonia is represented by the AGAURs' Internationalisation Area, supporting the International Projection activities from the Secretary for Universities and Research of the Generalitat of Catalonia.

 
The objectives of the project are:
 
  • Supporting the bilateral political dialogue and the implementation of a RDI roadmap.
  • Promoting synergies between EU policies and programmes addressed to Japan and facilitating the coordination of research projects and EU initiatives.
  • Promoting H2020 and other European or national programs between organizations and researchers from Japan.
  • Identifying and promoting the participation of researchers residents in Europe in RDI japanese programmes.
  • Organizing collaborative activities related to dissemination and use of RDI results.
  • Promoting the exchange of personnel, best practices and the identification of future joint actions.
  • Enhancing collaboration, in general, emphasizing a pre-defined areas: Industrial Technologies (ICT, advanced materials and biotechnology) and Social Challenges (health, energy and innovative and inclusive societies) and support for SMEs and industry-academia collaboration.

The European Regions Research & Innovation Network (ERRIN) is a multidisciplinary Research and Innovation network that represents the voice of the European regions on RDI issues facing the European institutions.

 
AGAUR takes part of different working groups with the support of the Delegation of the Goverment of Catalonia to the European Union.
 
The European Association of Research Managers (EARMA) is a nonprofit organization formed by professionals in the management and administration of research, which aims to become a leading organization in Europe with regards to improving the effectiveness and recognition of the management and administration of research at European level.
 
EARMA activities in which the AGAUR is involved:
 
  • Annual Conference, focused on promoting skills for the management of research, sharing experiences and best practices among research managers from across Europe and improveing the operation of the research support offices.
  • Professional development programme.
